Party planning is one of my favorite things of all time. From a small get together with friends to full-blown events (I helped organize a Care Bears Brunch in New York back in July), parties are a passion of mine. So for Kyle’s 30th birthday, I’d been planning for a few years. Continue reading

One Year Later
This time last year, I had high hopes for this little blog of ours. Hopes rooted in great intentions – to write more, to keep up with Kate (and family) better, to have a creative outlet and see where it would take us. One year ago today we were “launching” KateAndAllie.com to see what might become of a little family/travel/lifestyle/fun times blog. Continue reading
Catching Up Through Pictures
So, it’s obviously been a LONG time since I updated. Once so much time has gone by, it’s hard to know where to start in order to catch up. So… I scrolled through my photos and figured I’d grab the ones showing what we’ve been up to… all the way back to Halloween! Continue reading
Why I joined Beautycounter…
…Something I never saw coming!
In April 2014, I married my husband. We were in for a tough ride, as my mother passed away from cancer at the age of 64 just three months later. She was a true caretaker – a stay-at-home mother for most of our young lives, a hospice nurse and a wellness coordinator. Prior to the wedding I had multiple bouts of severe dermatitis on my face, neck and chest. Like we all do, I always called Mom when things went wrong. She told me time and time again… “it’s all that crap you use, just try soap & water!” But I thought I knew better and off to Sephora I went for a miracle cream… to no avail. Continue reading
Updates from LA
So a few big things are in the works here in Los Angeles and thought I’d take a moment to share before everything ramps up! Also, Halloween is right around the corner so it’s time to prepare the house and our costumes! Check out my updates below…
LA Lady Date Idea | Los Angeles Flower Mart Tour & Flower Arranging Class
A few Saturdays ago I enjoyed a wonderful lady date with two great friends touring the Los Angeles Flower Mart and taking a class on floral design with Kit & Casey, the sister team behind Flower Duet. Seems fitting to do a write up on our sisterly blog! Continue reading
Kyle’s October Movie Calendar
So, somehow the month of September passed us by. We flew to Portland, I interviewed for jobs and Kyle had a birthday but… will try harder not to disappear for months at a time.
I present to you… Kyle’s October Movie Calendar! The first of it’s kind! Continue reading
Benham’s LA Housewarming
Feels like forever since I’ve posted, it’s been a busy few weeks! Since finishing makeup classes I’ve continued to do practice on friends. Last week? Totally dedicated to whipping our house into shape. Now we’re a week post-housewarming and getting back to normal!
We bought our house in December (Merry Christmas to us!), renovated the kitchen and living space in January/February before moving in the first weekend in March. Here we are, almost six months later, and just getting around to a housewarming! To be fair… I could have used a few years to get the house to a presentable point BUT… we bought this house to entertain, and damnit – entertain we will! Continue reading
So how about that two weeks on/one week off thing?!
Whoops – how did this whole week go by without a single post?! We are slacking! To be fair, it’s been busy. Kate is consumed with work and very little play (seriously, she needs to start planning that Italy VACAY!!)…
Sorry, hold please… I rhymed. Sigh, I’m going to leave it. Continue reading
