LA Lady Date Idea | Los Angeles Flower Mart Tour & Flower Arranging Class

A few Saturdays ago I enjoyed a wonderful lady date with two great friends touring the Los Angeles Flower Mart and taking a class on floral design with Kit & Casey, the sister team behind Flower Duet. Seems fitting to do a write up on our sisterly blog!

It’s an early morning – meeting in downtown Los Angeles at 7am to tour the market from 7am – 9am. This portion was hosted by Casey and she walked us through how to choose flowers, how to handle the flowers so the vendors don’t get angry, what flowers are in season and which are painted/dyed… so much information! And so many flowers…

We took a break from 9am – 10am, which left us enough time (with about 15 minutes to spare) to drive from the Flower Mart in DTLA to the Flower Duet workshop space in Torrance. A bit of a hike, but plan to stay in the area for lunch after – there’s plenty of options and downtown Long Beach is a hop, skip & a jump away.

Below was the step by step process of creating our arrangements led by Kit – our class focus was on dahlias, but they have a roster of other options on their website here

With the proper care (adding water and flower food) my arrangement lasted just barely 7 days. However, we found some friendly caterpillars throughout the week that must have hitched a ride from the market.

For any ladies (and gents) in LA who want to try something new and get creative – I give these tours/classes two thumbs up! Next on the list… calligraphy class, cake decorating… any other suggestions?!

XOXO,

Allie

    Good morning Beautiful Allie,

So happy to see you doing so many fun things, stuff you’ve always wanted to do! Love, love, love all your pictures. Ruby Make-Up Academy looked so cool! Your home is lovely, the outcome of your remodel is unbelievable!

When I found your blog I was truly overwhelmed! You’ve bought a house, Kate’s moved to Germany! So much going on since I last spoke to you. The pictures of Remington are priceless, Kitty Margot, too! LOL!!!

Couldn’t resist commenting as it’s the weekend and I hope yours is as wonderful as you’ve helped to make mine!

    I love you,

    Annie
